This week’s Reason in my Year of Reasons to Visit the Moorlands initiative is the brilliant Sporting Communities organisation, that I have worked with on a great many projects over the years. Working across North Staffordshire, the team use sport as a tool to engage and reach young individuals.
Karen is looking to appoint a full-time Caseworker/Constituency Assistant on a 6 month contract, with possible extension, to assist in the day-to-day running of her Constituency office in Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
We are fortunate to have many great markets taking place right across the Staffordshire Moorlands and they all contribute to making the Moorlands the very special place it is. That is why this week, I would like to highlight our local markets as my week 31’s Reason to Visit the Moorlands.
The King has been graciously pleased to signify His intention of conferring the following Honours upon the undermentioned:
Dames Commander of the Order of the British Empire
Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP; Member of Parliament for Staffordshire Moorlands, formerly was Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. For public and political service.
As always, I would like to thank all those working in the emergency services – the police, the fire service and ambulance crews, as well as those working in the NHS and care homes and everyone working over the festive period.
The Churnet Valley Railway has long been one of my favourite local attractions, and this week as part of my Year of Reasons to Visit the Moorlands campaign, I am delighted to be focusing on it at a really special time - when it transforms into The Polar Express.
I am absolutely delighted to hear about this recommendation. I have spoken to staff, children and parents at these schools and know just how important this residential support is to them. I understand that the Cabinet at SCC will formally consider the proposal in the New Year and look forward to a positive outcome.
