WERRINGTON COMMUNITY LIBRARY & WELLBEING CENTRE
16TH MARCH 2020
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS
As everyone will be aware the seriousness of this outbreak continues to escalate and we do therefore have to make some decisions to protect our volunteers, customers and, because we are a community hub, the local population.
In reaching the decisions outlined below I am mindful that we have around twice the national average of older residents – which is the age group with the highest incidence of infection - which means that we could be affected sooner and to a greater degree than other areas. We have no choice but to look after our local folk – we have a clear and responsible Duty of Care.
EVENTS CANCELLATION
Whilst these dates have not been advertised our plan was to;
- Hold the cutting of the first "sod" of grass to mark the start of our new Log Cabin building programme on Saturday 21st March (this will still take place but as a photo-op for circulation to the media)
- Celebrate VE Day on Friday 8th May
- Earmark Sunday 14th June for our 4th anniversary “Knees-Up” and the grand opening of our completed Log Cabin project.
As a precautionary measure we are cancelling all these events with a view to, hopefully, making up for it later in the year when the threat may have passed.
VOLUNTEERS’ WELLBEING
There follows a Symptoms Chart from the World Health Organisation which lists three sets of symptoms. If any volunteer feels that they have any of the effects relating to Coronavirus WHILST THEY ARE AT HOME than please notify Betty Johnson – 01782 303576 – and then self-isolate for a minimum of 7 DAYS.
If anyone feels that they have either flu symptoms or a heavy cold, they should stay at home to recover as they would in any normal flu/cold situation.
Should Coronavirus symptoms arise WHEN YOU ARE IN THE LIBRARY then please follow this procedure
1) Advise all volunteers and customers in the building that you feel unwell and that as a precaution the Library & Wellbeing Centre will be closing and ask them to leave, advising them to self-isolate for a minimum of 7 days.

5) Everyone should then go home and then self-isolate for a minimum of 7 Days.
