Moorlands MP has welcomed the announcement from the BBC and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport regarding changes to the TV licence for people over 75.
Changes to the TV licence for people aged over 75 had been due to come into effect on 1 June. but due to the Covid-19 situation, the BBC has decided to delay and change the start date to 1st August.
BBC Chairman, David Clementi said:
“The BBC board has decided to delay changes to over 75s licence fees. We are in exceptional circumstances. Now is not the right time. We are fully focussed on delivering our services to the public at this difficult time.”
Karen commented:
"I am really pleased that the BBC has worked with the Government and decided to delay the licence fee changes for over 75s.
This is an extremely worrying time and I know this will be very welcome news to elderly residents in Staffordshire Moorlands.”
