Many of you write to me about Nature Recovery and the Environment Bill and it was therefore good to meet Staffordshire Wildlife Trust CEO Julian Woolford and other staff last week to visit Gun Moor. After the terrible weather we have had, the sun shone, the sky was clear and the views from Gun Moor were absolutely stunning.
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust have done a great job taking ownership of some of our local beauty spots such as the Roaches and are now trying to raise £156,000 to buy Gun Moor.
The Trust has entered into a “buy back” agreement with the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation asking the Foundation to buy the land with an agreement that they would buy it back from them for the same price within two years.
Gun Moor is such a popular place in the Moorlands both for local people and wildlife and it was lovely to hear about the many initiatives that are taking place to raise money for the appeal.
Please see https://www.staffs-wildlife.org.uk/gun-moor-appeal for more details.
After a busy week in Westminster with lots of meetings and debates, it was lovely to be home in the Moorlands. I was pleased to be interviewed on Moorlands Radio about some of the many issues that you wanted to ask me about and then had meetings with Chief Inspector Mark Thorley and Leslie Jackson from the Leek Post & Times followed by some surgery appointments before my visit up to Gun Moor which was just what was needed after the hustle and bustle of Westminster.
Finally, I know that everybody is concerned about the Corona Virus. Please do see my website and facebook page where you can find a link to the Government website which is updated daily with all the latest information and advice.
