Karen unveiled a tribute for the Jubilee at the Rudyard Lake Visitor Centre this weekend. Ray Perry, Chairman of theRudyard Lake Trust had organised a plaque - a mosaic of the Queen's head in a coin surrounded by the emblems of the four home nations ,designed by local artist Claire Heath - to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The mosaic of Her Majesty's head is made from terracotta pieces, each one of which has been individually placed by one of the children at Horton St Michael First School. The rest of the design is made from coins from throughout the Queen's reign and earlier and the coins were donated by people living in the parish.
Karen said:
"It's great to see the community in Rudyard come together to mark the Jubilee in such a creative way."
Rudyard, like so many other parts of the Moorlands, wanted to mark the Jubilee in its own unique way. A new flag pole has also been erected at the side of the Lake near the Visitor Centre and the Jubilee stone in the centre of the village has been updated for the Diamond celebrations.
