Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment earlier today in Parliament, pledging her commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day.
Sunday 27th January marks the anniversary of the liberation in 1945 of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and death camp where 1.1 million men, women and children were murdered. The theme for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is “Torn from Home.”
Karen said,
"Holocaust Memorial Day is an important opportunity for people from Staffordshire Moorlands and across the country to reflect on the tragic events of the Holocaust. As the Holocaust moves from living history, to just history, it becomes ever more important that we take the time to remember the victims and also pay tribute to the survivors.
"I am also encouraging schools in Staffordshire Moorlands to sign up for a live webcast on Thursday 24th January.
"This year, Holocaust survivor Harry Spiro BEM will give his testimony and it will be live streamed, so schools across the country can hear him in conversation with Robert Rinder."
