Staffordshire Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley, welcomed her colleague, Col Bob Stewart DSO MP back to the Moorlands to meet members of the Staffordshire Moorlands Conservative Association Patrons Club. As a former Commander of the Cheshire Regiment - now 1 Mercian, sister battalion to 3 Mercian the Staffords - Bob had spent much time in the area, particularly in the training camps just outside Leek. He told his audience how pleased he was to return.
Karen said:
"I was delighted to welcome Bob back to the Moorlands and to introduce him to so many friends. There were over 200 new MPs elected to Parliament last May, but few have done so much before Parliament and even fewer who are such good company, so I was thrilled that Bob came to Leek and spoke so powerfully about his own experiences in Northern Ireland and Bosnia and his views about our current activities in Libya."
Col Stewart has brought the strength of character he showed in Bosnia to the House of Commons and is renowned for his forthright support for our armed forces in Afghanistan and now Libya. He spoke movingly of his experiences in Bosnia, and the good work our airmen can do in Libya to save civilians, at an event at Westwood Golf Club to over 50 invited guests.
