It’s been a busy week in Westminster with the EU Withdrawal Bill returned to the House of Commons and Members of Parliament considering amendments tabled in the House of Lords. The purpose of the EU Withdrawal Bill is to ensure that the UK exits the EU with certainty, continuity and control. It will provide a functioning statute book on the day we leave the EU, as well as ensuring that it is for our sovereign Parliament to make any future changes.
Whatever way people voted in the Referendum, Leave or Remain, the vast majority now want all of us in Parliament to get on with it and make our withdrawal from the EU work.
On Friday I was pleased to host another tour of Parliament for Moorlands residents. They travelled down to Westminster by coach, had the opportunity to ask me some questions and then joined me for a private tour of Parliament, including a visit to the House of Commons Chamber. I am always really proud to show local people where I work during the week and what a special and historic place Parliament is.
The good weather seems to be here and I am looking forward to many local events that are coming up. One of these is my next Senior Tea Dance in Biddulph on 29th June where I will be working with the Royal Voluntary Service and the Biddulph Ukulele Group who have kindly agreed once again to give their services for free.
The event is free and is open to all senior residents in Staffordshire Moorlands but you do need to book in advance by calling Erika in my constituency office on 01538 382421. Please do pass the invitation on to anyone you feel might benefit from some music, dancing, tea, cakes and friendly conversation.
