Last week saw the Chancellor deliver the Autumn Budget which provides a comprehensive plan to support the health service, our high streets, and ensure working people in Staffordshire Moorlands have more money in their pocket.
The Chancellor set out how the hard work of the British people is paying off, and how our careful fiscal management and solid economic recovery means that austerity is coming to an end.
As Secretary of State for Northern Ireland I was at the dispatch box on Wednesday just before PMQs, taking questions from colleagues on Northern Ireland and on a more local note, I was delighted to join Staffordshire and Stoke MPs, local government, businesses and charities at the 2018 Celebration of Staffordshire Parliamentary event.
Staffordshire Moorlands has such a wealth of talent and so much to offer and I was pleased to invite some local businesses and charities to represent us at this special event. It was a pleasure to meet up with Frances Bromley from the Scabetti studio in Leek, Ross Podyma from the local Sporting Communities as well as Sara Williams CEO of the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce.
The event was held in the Jubilee Room, an annex of the historic Westminster Hall, where tilers from Staffordshire famously built the entrance to the room.
It was wonderful to see so many parliamentary colleagues, small businesses, charities and local heroes come together for this celebration of Staffordshire in Parliament.
I was very pleased to support the event and am pleased that so many Cabinet ministers were able to attend to hear first-hand the success that is happening in our county. I was really proud to be able to showcase our fantastic businesses and charities and to be able to help promote Staffordshire Moorlands and Staffordshire at this Parliamentary event.
