Karen Bradley MP was the guest of the RSPB at Coombes Valley nature reserve this week to learn more about the conservation work organised here by one of the UK's largest charities.
Karen met Steve Holliday the RSPB Regional Director and Jared Sneyd who is the warden at Coombes Valley as well as volunteers Becky and Heather. Karen said:
"Coombes Valley is breathtakingly beautiful and it was a real privilege to get a personal tour and to learn about the work the RSPB is doing here. This is a very significant site not just for Staffordshire Moorlands but also for the West Midlands. I would encourage anyone who hasn't yet been here to visit Coombes Valley and the Churnet Valley reserve.
"The RSPB are doing great work to encourage a really wide variety of rare birds to make their homes here. How they encourage different types of woodland habitat to attract different species is fascinating and having really successful impacts. It's a real asset to Staffordshire Moorlands and we should encourage people from further afield to come and enjoy the reserve and contribute to the conservation work going on."
