Karen will join the Leek Federation Sixth Form and Sybil Ralphs, Leader of SMDC on Friday to help inspire local young people to achieve their full potential
As a part of the Leek Federation’s “Inspire” programme, dozens of local businesses and services will get together at Leek High Specialist Technology School to share their experiences and success stories and inspire young people in Staffordshire Moorlands to achieve their potential.
Karen said: “Inspire will enhance students’ knowledge of the work place and prepare them for jobs. Most importantly, it will show them what they can achieve and encourage them to reach really high standards.”
Dan Owen, Director of the Federation Sixth Form added: “We want local businesses to come to inspire the students and also to create longer term links with the Federation. The Moorlands has great students with huge potential and we want to Inspire them to fulfil it.”
The “Inspire” launch event itself is due to take place on Friday, 18 October 2013 between 1pm and 3.30pm and will be hosted at Leek High Specialist Technology School. It will include inspirational talks, careers experience days and workshops to help the students gain a wider view of future opportunities and how they could make their own mark in the Staffordshire Moorlands or further afield.
The practical event complements the Leek Federation’s strong academic ethos by developing the hopes and aspirations of Sixth Form students to help them achieve their best and get them ready for work. While some students have a plan for their future, very many are unsure which route to follow when considering career choices – this is often due to a lack of exposure to successful businesses and individuals so that they are aware what could be possible.
If you want to take part, contact Debbie Allen at the Federation on 01538 370 930 or Erika in Karen’s office on 01538 382421.
