Werrington Community Volunteers Group

Formed over 12 years ago the group organises Werrington in Bloom, free full colour Village Life community magazine, www.myvillagelifeonline.com community website, Community E-News information service, Jubilee Garden Project, Village Seating, Village Lottery, Neighbourhood Forums, Neighbourhood Watch, Village Life Radio Show, Free media promotion service for local groups, Poppy planting around the village, Residents Consultation Evening and concert, Christmas Trees with community switch-on, Road Safety & Safe Parking campaign for Primary school, provided an Edible Garden for the Primary school.

The group also embraces the Werrington Young Persons Support Group which runs a Friday Youth Club, annual Pancake Race and special events for the Royal British Legion. Kidz2Kidz provides Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children and those of the fallen in the Moorlands and emergency Christmas financial aid for distressed mums.

The new Werrington Library & Wellbeing Centre was launched four years ago tom save it from closure. Since then over 1,200 wellbeing services have been hosted and library membership has increased by over 130%. The project is now sustainable for over 10 years. March 2020 will see the construction of a UK-first Garden Therapy Log Cabin Village which will cater for those with mental health issues, learning difficulties and the care of carers.
