Sporting Communities

Sporting Communities Community Interest Company is an ethical, not for profit community development organisation. Our staff are highly experienced community development professionals, many of whom are experienced in working with young and older people who are at risk, or my experience loneliness and isolation. We have continued to provide a variety of positive interventions into local communities to bring about effective change. Our holistic approach, uses sport, heritage and the creative arts to connect with communities and nurture social aspects within those communities. Working with partners, we seek to increase engagement in positive activity, creating greater wellbeing and improving life chances through volunteering opportunities and the provision of high-quality local services.

At Sporting Communities, we use sport and creative arts as a tool to engage with individuals and communities on a deeper social development level, wrapping around a myriad of services designed to initiate social change, individual and community development. Our approach ensures that people are truly able to achieve positive pathways. We divide this work into 4 interlinking strands:

  • Sporting - the provision of community and club sport and healthy lifestyle programmes
  • Creative - the provision of play, the arts, such as community murals, and events.
  • Supporting - mentoring, mediation and building resilience with communities and targeted families and older people
  • Sustaining – volunteer training, social action and business support for VCSE groups.
