Following an announcement made by the new Chancellor, the funding for the Restoring your Railway was pulled and this effectively put a halt on any work to restore the Leek to Stoke line.
Karen commented,
"To say I was disappointed by this news would be an understatement as I have championed this idea for many years and chaired the delivery board that helped secure £50,000 from the Restoring Your Railway Fund to study the feasibility of reopening the line.
"I will, however, continue to lobby for this and any other schemes which could open up transport links within the Moorlands."
