Karen signs Holocaust Educational Trust Book of Commitment
Today marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history. Karen signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment to pledge her commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and to honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as to pay tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people.
After signing the Book of Commitment, Karen said:
"It is vital that we remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust - they must not be forgotten. I know that later this year some young people from Moorlands schools are travelling to Auschwitz-Birkenau and I encourage everyone in Staffordshire Moorlands to mark the day and not to give up the fight against prejudice and intolerance that led to the Holocaust.”
Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said:
“We are proud that Karen is supporting Holocaust Memorial Day. As we mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust and the liberation of the concentration camps in 2015, it is vitally important that we both continue to remember and learn from the appalling events of the Holocaust – as well as ensuring that we continue to challenge antisemitism and all forms of bigotry."
The HET has lauched a new app ‘70 Voices: Victims, Perpetrators, Bystanders’, which explores the Holocaust through the people at the centre of it. The App is free and you can download it from Google Play or the ITunes store.
