Karen welcomes over £46 million Government investment in local schools

MP Karen Bradley has welcomed a £46,516,384 Government investment in schools across Staffordshire Moorlands – the largest funding boost in a decade, levelling up per pupil funding to ensure that all schools have the right investment to deliver an outstanding education in Staffordshire Moorlands.

Karen welcomes introduction of Farm Payments Bill

Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley has welcomed today’s new Bill introduced to ensure farmers continue to receive Direct Payments for 2020.
The Direct Payments to Farmers (Legislative Continuity) Bill will provide continuity and stability to farmers as the UK leaves the EU and ensure that they continue to receive direct payment support for the 2020 scheme year.

Karen raises concerns over loss of 4th May Bank Holiday

Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley today raised concerns regarding the loss of the Bank Holiday on 4th May this year. Karen asked the Leader of the House whether it would be suitable to include the traditional May Day Bank Holiday, on the 4th of May as well as the planned May Bank Holiday on the 8th of May to honour the 75th anniversary of VE Day, effectively resulting in an additional Bank Holiday this calendar year.

New Year Column

The New Year is a time not only to look forward to what 2020 may bring but also to look back and reflect on the many events of 2019.  It has certainly been an eventful year in British politics, culminating with the General Election in December where I was re-elected as MP for Staffordshire Moorlands with an increased majority.  I am very honoured that the people of the Moorlands residents have put their trust in me for a fourth time and will always do my very best to be a strong, clear voice for you both locally and in Parliament.

After an incredibly hectic few weeks campaigning in the General Election, there was no time to rest for MPs, with last week’s Queen’s Speech and of course Friday’s vote on the EU Withdrawal Agreement Bill. I know how much so many of you want to see us leave the EU and I was pleased to vote for the Bill to make sure this happens.

All 12 Staffordshire Conservative MPs meet in Parliament

Staffordshire’s 12 Conservative MPs – all MPs in Staffordshire are now Conservative – met in the House of Commons on the 19th December and re-constituted the Staffordshire Group of MPs who meet regularly to discuss County wide issues.
