Weekly Column 10.10.18

At the Conservative Party Conference last week in Birmingham, the Prime Minister outlined her vision to deliver opportunity for all and to take our future into our hands. 
There were some important announcements at the Conference which will help local residents in Staffordshire Moorlands. One of these was a new Cancer Strategy as part of the Government’s long-term plan for the NHS, speeding up diagnosis and saving lives.

This week is the Conservative conference in Birmingham and I am joining in with the debate together with thousands of others.
Much of the debate at all the Party Conferences this year has been about Brexit and in Labour’s latest round of Brexit chaos, which dominated their conference, Jeremy Corbyn refused to rule out delaying Brexit, breaking his promise to respect the referendum result.

Karen chairs liaison meeting with John Pointon & Sons

Karen was pleased to chair the regular liaison meeting at John Pointon & Sons in Cheddleton recently.  
Karen was joined by local residents, Councillors, representatives from the Environment Agency and representatives from John Pointon & Sons.

Weekly Column 26.09.18

We have so many great schools here in Staffordshire Moorlands and I was delighted to learn that the Secretary of State for Education has agreed to enter into a Funding Agreement to allow St Luke's CofE Primary School and St Michael's CofE First School to become Academies.

Karen visits St Edwards C of E Academy

Karen was delighted to visit Edwards C of E Academy in Leek recently.

She was greeted in reception by some of the students and then met Head Teacher, Tom Hutchinson, School Business Manager Sue Casey and two of the Governors to discuss many issues including some improvement projects and a school plan to introduce some new initiatives to make the school more useful to the Community.
