The Year of the Moorlands Village - Grindon
The beautiful All Saints' church in Grindon has long been known as “The Cathedral of the Moorlands” thanks to its striking silhouette across the Manifold Valley.
The church we see today was rebuilt in 1848 though its roots stretch back to the 11th century, when the first chapel of ease was built to serve the Parish of St Bartram, Ilam. There is lots to see inside, including medieval charnel coffins, a Saxon font, and even 16th century bells preserved from the earlier building.
