We have a wealth of talent in Staffordshire Moorlands and I am delighted that Staffordshire Moorlands once again has the opportunity to participate in some national competitions and show the rest of the UK what a special place I am proud to represent and live in.
The first of these that I would like to mention is the Parliamentary Pub of the Year national competition.
We have so many fantastic pubs here in Staffordshire Moorlands and I really believe that we have a good chance of winning the competition. I am asking local people to nominate their favourite pub, along with a brief description of “What the Pub is great at.”
I will nominate the Pub that receives the most nominations from local residents, to go on to the next stage of the national competition.
Please send your nominations including the name and address of the pub and a brief description of “What the Pub is great at” to karen.bradley.mp@parliament.uk or write to my Leek office by 26th September 2018.
Last week was Great British High Street Week and I was pleased to drop into an event in Westminster to celebrate the many nominations in Great Britain and Northern Ireland including Derby Street in Leek.
The Great British High Street Awards began in 2014 and are now back for 2018. Led by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, sponsored by Visa and supported by other partners, the campaign celebrates the best and boldest of our high streets, recognising the essential role they play in local economies and community life and I am delighted that Staffordshire Moorlands District Council nominated Derby Street for this award.
I am proud of our town centre and all our local shops and businesses and I am sure that we stand a really good chance in this competition.
