As your MP it is always an honour and a privilege to be invited to visit some of the many charities and community groups here in Staffordshire Moorlands. Many of these exist solely because of the generosity of their volunteers who give up their time selflessly to help others.
Support Staffordshire is now accepting nominations for the “Volunteers of the Year Award” so if you know of a volunteering hero in Staffordshire Moorlands now is the time to nominate them.
I have personally met so many amazing volunteers and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to show our appreciation for what is being done in Staffordshire Moorlands every day.
Four finalists will be selected from the entries, with a public vote in May and the winner to be announced at a special voluntary sector market place event on Tuesday 19th June at the Salvation Army Hall in Leek.
Please email staffordshiremoorlands@supportstaffordshire.org.uk or phone 01538 381356 or call in to Bank House, 20 St Edwards Street Leek ST13 5DS during office hours for a nomination form. The closing date for nominations is 5pm on Friday 27th April
Many of you have asked if I will be organising another Senior Tea Dance and I am pleased to announce that this will take place in June, in Biddulph, and our partner charity this time will be the Royal Voluntary Service. The event, as always, will be completely free and is totally funded by our generous sponsors. I am keen to support different charities each time with all proceeds of the raffle going to that particular charity. Last time we managed to raise over £160 for the Biddulph Youth and Community Zone. Please do keep an eye on my website and facebook for the date and details of how to obtain tickets.
