I have worked with many local charities over the years and was delighted to join the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, civic dignitaries and the many supporters, volunteers and the current and former crew and trustees of the Beatrice Charity recently on the Beatrice at Cheddleton Wharf for the official presentation of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This is just one of the many examples of the fantastic charities that we have here in the Moorlands doing such amazing work for the community.
To help support local charities even more I am organising a Charities Training Session together with the Charities Aid Foundation.
The Charities Aid Foundation is a charity and a champion for better giving, and for over 90 years has helped donors, companies, charities and social organisations make a bigger impact. A representative from the CAF will lead the training which will include topics such as how to approach diversifying your organisation’s income and making the most of free digital tools – social media and search engine optimisation - just to mention a couple.
I am grateful to the Werrington Community Volunteers Group for their help in organising the event which will take place in November at Werrington Village Hall.
The event is completely free of charge and information about the event can be found on my facebook page.
Finally, as many of you know, I am committed to help tackle the important issue of Loneliness and Isolation and following my Senior Tea Dances and my conference ‘Beyond the Front Door’, I have put together a Loneliness and Isolation directory which has details of local charities, organisations, events and contact numbers.
The leaflet will be delivered as widely as possible but if anyone would like a copy or copies please do give my office a ring on 01538 382421.
