The New Year is a time not only to look forward to what 2020 may bring but also to look back and reflect on the many events of 2019. It has certainly been an eventful year in British politics, culminating with the General Election in December where I was re-elected as MP for Staffordshire Moorlands with an increased majority. I am very honoured that the people of the Moorlands residents have put their trust in me for a fourth time and will always do my very best to be a strong, clear voice for you both locally and in Parliament.
Issues such as the future of health services, including the Leek Moorlands Hospital, working with the Transport Secretary to try and resolve our school transport problems and the need for more buses across the Moorlands, and lobbying to get fairer funding for our schools in Staffordshire, are all at the forefront of my work in 2020.
Over the nearly 10 years that I have served as your MP, I have dealt with over 32,000 individual pieces of casework. I have visited schools and charities across the whole of the Moorlands, worked with local businesses, both large and small and attended many of the events that you work so hard to put on. I am looking forward to many of the regular events in 2020, including Club Day and the Biddulph Festival and I am working hard to make sure that the Leek Agricultural Show has a future not just next year but for many years to come.
I am also looking forward to welcoming many of you to Parliament on one of my regular coach trips to see how things work behind the scenes.
I wish everyone in Staffordshire Moorlands a very Happy New Year!
