Local MP Karen Bradley is asking residents across Staffordshire Moorlands to nominate their favourite pub for entry into a national competition.
Karen thinks that the Staffordshire Moorlands has a good chance of winning the competition and is asking local people to nominate their favourite pub, along with a brief description of what the pub is great at.
Karen will then nominate the one that receives the most nominations from local residents, to go on to the next stage of the national competition.
Karen said:
"We have so many great pubs in the Moorlands and I'd urge people to nominate their favourite. I think we can do really well in this competition, and the more people who nominate the better.”
The main criteria for nomination is that the pub is “Great at What They Do”
This can include:
- Offer a range of beers and a food menu including (where possible) classic British pub food;
- Have been nominated for or won an industry award for the pub or an aspect of your business relevant to visitors (beer range, warm welcome, food offer, beer garden, customer service) including local, regional or national tourist awards, local newspaper awards, CAMRA awards, Loo Of the Year, Michelin Star or Good Food Guide entries;
- The warmest of welcomes throughout the Year – from great signage, effective marketing, ongoing calendar of events.
- Have helped put their community/village/town/city on the map – as participant in pub walks, ale trails, tourist guides
- Range of beer
- Range of food
- Music
- Sports
- Community contribution
