Staffordshire Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley was delighted to visit Dominic and Frances Bromley at their new Scabetti studio in Leek.
Karen said,
“I am always incredibly proud of the many Craft Makers’ studios we have in Staffordshire Moorlands and particularly enjoy seeing how this local artistic talent is present not just in other parts of the country but all over the world.”
“It was great to hear how Dominic and Frances started back in 1999 making beautiful objects in fine bone china and how the studio has progressed to where it is today producing breath-taking pieces of sculpture that can be seen in different settings around the world.”
Dominic and Francis have always had a simple remit: to produce beautiful, desirable objects, made with pride and quality as locally as possible.
Karen was particularly fascinated to hear about their sculptural light collection, Shoal which consists of installations of bone china fish “swimming” around a central light feature. The ceramic fish are each cast from fine bone china in local potteries and the installations are prepared by hand in the Scabetti studio in Leek.
