Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley was pleased to attend the Norton House Community Centre AGM.
Norton House is on the corner of Fynney Street and Southbank Street in Leek and was bought in 1959 for the town as a centre for older people.
In the 1990’s Norton House became the home of Leek’s U3A – University of the Third Age which has over 900 members today. The former Red Cross building has been used as an annexe since 2015.
Karen said,
“As many of you know, I will do all I can to help combat elderly loneliness and isolation in Staffordshire Moorlands and Leek U3A has many great activities all over the town. Members can embroider, walk, play bowls, swim, learn languages just to mention a few of the fantastic courses they run.”
Karen also told the members at the AGM about her forthcoming Senior Tea Dance on 29th June in Biddulph.
Anyone interested in some tea, dancing and friendly conversation should contact Erika on 01538 382 421 for more details.
