Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley is asking local people to avoid the area near the former Mermaid Inn where firefighters are still damping down the incident. The fire has led to smoke drifting and people in areas affected by the smoke should keep doors and windows closed.
Firefighters are also still tackling the large woodland fire at Alton. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue are asking all walkers, joggers, dog walkers etc avoid this area as you may become cut off by the fire on its paths and tracks.
Karen said,
“My thoughts are with all our emergency services who are working hard under challenging conditions to keep us safe. I would urge local people to follow the advice from Staffordshire Fire & Rescue to avoid both areas and to keep doors and windows closed if you have been affected by the smoke. Please do contact my office if there is anything I can do to help.”
