Grass Fires in Staffordshire Moorlands

Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley is asking local people to avoid the area near the former Mermaid Inn where firefighters are still damping down the incident. The fire has led to smoke drifting and people in areas affected by the smoke should keep doors and windows closed.

EU Withdrawal Bill receives Royal Assent

Today the EU Withdrawal Bill received Royal Assent.

Last week, Parliament passed the EU Withdrawal Bill showing people in the UK, and to the EU, that the elected representatives in this country are getting on with the job and delivering on the will of the British people.

It’s been a busy week in Westminster with the EU Withdrawal Bill returned to the House of Commons and Members of Parliament considering amendments tabled in the House of Lords. The purpose of the EU Withdrawal Bill is to ensure that the UK exits the EU with certainty, continuity and control.

After a busy week in Westminster, it’s always great to be back in the Moorlands and as well as various meetings and surgeries, I was pleased to visit the Werrington Library and Wellbeing Centre again to talk to some of the volunteers and Library staff.

Moorlands MP, Karen Bradley was delighted to visit Ross Podyma and Ben Rigby from Sporting Communities in Biddulph to hear about the £398,000 Reaching Communities lottery funding they have received for a project called M-Y-Voice which will be run out in Biddulph, Leek and Cheadle and which will run over 5 years.
