Karen is launching her 100 in 100 campaign this week to help find 100 apprenticeships in 100 days for Staffordshire Moorlands. Things kick off on Friday 31 August and Karen is working with the Leek Post and Times and the National Apprenticeship Service to organise the campaign. Karen said: "This campaign is going to be a real challenge but the feedback from young people, their families, voluntary groups and businesses since I first wrote about it is very exciting. "If you are a business looking to expand and considering how to bring in new staff, or if you are aged between 16 and 24 and interested in learning a trade, apprenticeships could be for you. "I'm grateful for the help of the National Apprenticeship service and our own Leek Post and Times in this campaign. We'll be launching it in Leek on Friday so if you are interested come along and find out more. Just get in touch with my office in Leek to let us know." Apprenticeships provide a financially-efficient way of bringing enthusiastic people into the workforce, and they also offer a great start in life for young people. Research by the University of Warwick shows that among other benefits apprenticeships provide companies with loyal, skilled staff who stay with them longer and help their businesses grow. With extra Government support for businesses that want to take on an apprentice, now could be just the time to take the plunge. Apprenticeships have a double benefit: they help businesses to succeed and the young apprentices to thrive and develop as they learn a trade which could be in virtually any business. The NAS's research shows that apprentices can earn over £100,000 more over their careers. Contact karen on karen.bradley.mp@parliament.uk, or call 01538 382 421 to find out about the launch event.
