Last week, Karen brought Bob Moore, a local businessman who, along with other residents, has campaigned long and hard for a mains gas supply to Biddulph Moor to London to meet Greg Barker MP, Minister of State at the Department for Energy and Climate Change, to discuss bringing a supply to the village.
Everyone thought the meeting was very productive, with a number of positive ideas to look at.
Karen commented:
"I am really pleased that we were able to talk directly about Biddulph Moor's energy needs with the Minister. Many people in the village have told me about their high energy costs, so I was very happy to have his input on ways that it might be possible to reduce their bills.
"We are now contacting a number of suppliers for quotes on a mains gas supply and I am also looking to access money from the Rural Community Energy Fund to pay for a specialist consultant who will be able to advise us on alternative energy options.
"I hope we can make real progress over the next few months and I am very grateful for the strong and continued support of residents in the area."
