The former chairman of Staffordshire Moorlands’ UKIP Association today said that he was backing Karen Bradley and the Conservatives in this week’s General Election, Alex Povey, whose father Steve was the UKIP Parliamentary Candidate at the 2005 and 2010 General Elections, said that he would be voting for the Conservatives as the only party that can deliver an EU referendum.
Alex said:
“My Dad was determined to make sure that the British people had their say over membership of the EU. I know that he would want to make sure that Britain got its referendum and that he would therefore want me to vote Conservative as the only party that can deliver.”
Karen said:
“It is great to get Alex’s backing. The Povey name is such a prominent one in the Moorlands and getting his endorsement is another sign that the Conservatives are doing the right things for the people of the Moorlands. As a local businessman, Alex knows how important it is that we have a strong economy and that we have the chance to finish the job. I am also determined to give Alex and all Moorlanders the chance to have their say on our membership of the EU with an in/out referendum by the end of 2017.
