Karen welcomed new figures showing since 2010 the number of people in Staffordshire Moorlands claiming JSA fell by 645 – a 66% drop and down 39% since this time last year.
Karen said:
‘It’s great news that over the last five years the number people of people relying on JSA has fallen by two thirds. More local people are in work, with the security of a job and a regular pay packet so they can provide for themselves and their families. I’m so pleased to see Moorlands businesses like Adams Foods creating even more jobs.”
People are getting off benefits and into work across the country with 2 million more people at work than at the end of thirteen years of a Labour Government.
Karen added:
“These figures represent the hard work and the determination of people in Staffordshire Moorlands both job seekers and employers but I also think the election result this year was partly recognition of the Conservatives’ strong leadership and clear economic plan. And there is another boost today as we have seen the highest real wage rises for seven years over the last 12 months. As a Government for working people we’re committed to go further, as we work towards a Britain of full employment, which offers security at every stage of life.’
