Moorlands Candidate Organises David Cameron Spe ech
Bradley takes members of the shadow cabinet to her office
Karen Bradley, Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Staffordshire Moorlands, organised an event supporting a speech on equal pay and the economy by the Leader of the Opposition, David Cameron,. And in a coup for Karen, it was in the offices of her employer, KPMG.
Karen said:
“I speak regularly to the team at Campaign Headquarters and last week, David Cameron’s team asked me for help in organising a venue from which David, Theresa May, George Osborne and Alan Duncan could give a speech and hold a question and answer session.
David spoke convincingly about the fragility of the economy thanks, in part, to the actions of Gordon Brown over the last ten years, and about the Conservative party’s new policy on on Equal Pay. As someone who benefits from KPMG’s flexible working policy, I was more than happy to organise the event at their Head Office in London.”
Karen, who is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, works for KPMG from her home in Leek.
Karen added:
“Because KPMG has such a flexible approach to working hours and location I can continue to be a mother, Parliamentary candidate and build on my existing knowledge of tax to put in a hard day’s work. It is important that employers recognise how much working mothers have to offer. Modern employment requires flexibility – whether it’s working from home, job sharing or other variable structure – can help companies in the Moorlands become more efficient and attract new workers to this beautiful part of the world.”
David Cameron was very impressed by how KPMG are supporting Karen and other working mums – and dads- at KPMG, over 25% of all requests for flexible working are from men. And he admitted that he had been part time before he was first elected to Parliament.
Karen’s meeting with David and the team will be shown on WebCameron soon. (www.webcameron.org.uk)
