Ladydale Footpath Extension
Footpath extended into school giving pupils and parents a safe work to school route
This week, the Leek Conservative Action Team gave up their Saturday to restore the existing footpath behind the All Saints First School and build a new footpath in the school grounds that gives the pupils access into town without needing to walk along the busy Cheddleton Road. As well as providing a safe route to the All Saints Church, the footpath extension gives parents who live in Leek a safe walk to school route to the school.
Over 25 volunteers turned up on the day and helped out in various ways, including operating the diggers, wheeling the dug up earth away from the new path, raking in the new gravel and providing refreshments for the hungry and thirsty workers.
Karen Bradley, Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Staffordshire Moorlands, said:
“I want to thank everyone who turned up to help on Saturday. We knew that our plans were ambitious, but we achieved far more than we ever thought possible thanks to the help of all the volunteers.
I use the footpath myself, and I know how useful it is to have a route from Fynney Street down to the Cheddleton Road that avoids actually going along the main road.”
Leek East Councillors, Paul Chauveau and Patrick Burke were part of the team. Paul said:
“I also want to thank the volunteers, all of whom were invaluable. I’m sure this extension will give Mrs Smith and her pupils at All Saints many more options for outside learning and development.”
